Wonderful Antique French Clover Brooch from the late 19th century.
Clovers were made popular in France by the Empress Eugénie who got gifted an Emerald Clover Brooch by her then-to-be husband Napoleon III. It was considered her engagement jewel.
Crafted in 18k solid gold, the present brooch features a faceted red glass stone at the center. It fasten by means of a C clasp.
Details:
The brooch is French and was made in the late 19th century. It is stamped with the Horse head French hallmark for 18k Gold at the C clasp, please see zoomed in picture. This stamp was in use from 1838 to 1919 only. It is rare to find it with such well-preserved details!
It also has 2 additional stamps on the pin, likely the maker mark, please see last picture.
Condition:
The pin is in excellent antique condition, with no flaw to note. It opens and closes securely.
