The famous & rare shooting star locket from W&H Co ☺️
W&H Co. refers to the Wightman & Hough Company, a historical American jewelry manufacturer famous for its high-quality antique lockets.
Established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island, Wightman & Hough Co. operated until the 1920s. They became highly regarded throughout the Victorian, Art Nouveau, and Edwardian eras for their fine craftsmanship in lockets, medallions, and seals.
The front features the original glass rhinestones arranged in a pattern of shooting stars. The back is plain. The jump loop is new and made of 18k solid gold.

The locket is stamped with the W&H Co logo inside and is made of gold filled.
Condition:
It is in good antique condition with clear signs of age which are part of the charm of that piece. If you don't like a vintage look, that piece is not for you.
The glass rhinestones appear to be all original and as a result some of them have darkened or have chips. They are all present in different states of preservation, none is missing.
The gold filled surface has patina and oxidization. At the back there are some dents at the top, and a small one at the bottom right.
The locket was refurbished by my goldsmith: a new solid 18k gold loop has been added. Also the closing mechanism was broken when I acquired it. My goldsmith soldered a new little pin inside and it is not closing very tightly with a snap.
