Amazing Edwardian Gold Bracelet with a Garnet.
The faceted round Garnet is held by 16 prongs.
A safety chain connects the two bracelet halves when opened, to prevent loss.
Details:
The bracelet is stamped at the clasp with the owl French hallmark: it is the hallmark for 18k gold for items of unknown origin.
I had it X-ray tested at my goldsmith, and unlike what the stamp indicates, it is 14k gold and not 18k. On the last picture is shown the result of the X-ray analysis: it contains 57% of gold. As the bracelet weights 14g, this represents 8g of pure gold.
Condition:
The bracelet is in excellent Antique condition, with no flaw to note. It shuts tightly.
