Stunning Antique Celestial Brooch with Perpignan Garnets.
The brooch features 11 foiled-back faceted Garnets individually set in 18k Gold and soldered together to form a Moon crescent. It fastens by means of a trombone clasp, which was first used in France in the 1890s.
The design with foil back + triangular prongs is typical of the French part of Catalonia in the South West of France near the Spanish border. The brooch was manufactured there in the late 19th century.

There are two stamps on the fastening pin. One is the Eagle Head, French hallmark for 18k Gold. The other one is the goldsmith mark, which is always a lozenge shape inside which the maker initials or logo is added.
Condition:
The pin is in very good antique condition, opens and closes securely.
