Incredible Victorian ring with closed-back rose cut diamonds in 18k gold and silver.
Rose cut diamonds are set in silver to form a fancy flower design at the front of the ring.
The shank is made of yellow gold with intricate details to the shoulders.
Details:
The ring was manufactured in Sweden. Unfortunately, I can't read the year hallmark. It is likely Victorian given the material used: silver to set the diamonds in closed-back settings, and also the diamonds cut: rose cuts were most popular from the 1600s through the mid-1800s. Since the ring has foiled-back diamonds, it likely dates before 1860.
Floral and nature-inspired motifs were extremely popular in the Georgian (1714-1830) and early Victorian (1837-1860) periods. Cluster rings forming a flower shape were a staple of Victorian sentimental jewelry. All in all the ring likely dates from the early Victorian era, 1837-1860.
Inside the shank one can find several stamps including the maker mark, the Swedish three crowns hallmark (in use since 1754), and the gold purity stamp "18k".
Condition:
The ring is in very good antique condition, please inspect the photos.
Measurements:
The ring is a US size 6 1/4, UK size M 1/2.
Weight: 4.3g.
Seven rose cut diamonds with the central one having a diameter of approximately 5mm.
